Melt Stabilization
In a metallurgical application, an electro-magnet
was needed to generate strong magnetic fields in a large volume.
We used FEA models for a number of design candidates and identified
the ones providing the highest field strength with low power
consumption. The figure on the left shows the 3D magnetic
vector potential in the half plane of the iron core; the coils
are not shown. Based on the model, we designed and built a
custom magnetic melt stabilization system for their application.
Watring Technologies’ engineers installed the magnetic
melt stabilization system and facility and trained their crystal
growers on the new equipment.
