Error Proofing
for Automotive Glass
A manufacturer of automotive glass was experiencing
quality problems with a line of glass. After analysis of their
equipment and processes, we developed an error proofing system
(poka-yoke) to verify that water drainage holes were clear
of flashing which was a by-product of the reaction injection
molding process. The system automatically probed the drain
holes and gave the operator a visual and audible signal if
the part failed the inspection.
